"Inprise (previously Borland) has carried out a developer survey of 24,000 developers, which revealed that over 40 percent of
respondents were interested in developing with Delphi on Linux and 40 percent were also interested in using a C/C++
development tool on Linux. The results also indicate that the majority of developers participating in the survey are planning
application development and client server database development projects on Linux."
"Consequently Inprise intends to port most if not all of its development products to Linux. The porting of Delphi is particularly
important because it is estimated that there are over 1 million Delphi developers. The company has been shipping InterBase its
database product on Linux for over a year - but that product was developed under Unix anyway and always had a Unix
incarnation. Inprise has now announced the immediate availability of VisiBroker, its ORB, for Linux and also has a Linux version
of its Java development tool, JBuilder. Delphi and the C tools will follow."
